Nearly 10 million adults and children live in households
struggling to afford or access sufficient food, according to our latest Food Insecurity Tracker.
The shocking figures published today show:
An
estimated 7.2 million adults and 2.7 million children live in households
that experienced food insecurity in June 2024
Households with children in the poorest fifth of the population would have to spend 70% of their disposable income on food to afford the government-recommended healthy diet
The findings have led to calls from citizens and experts for the government to commit to take action to reduce children's food insecurity in its first 100 days of office.
